Ingredients
Instructions
-
Make sugar syrup
Combine sugar with 250ml of water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly until sugar completely dissolves and mixture is clear. Do not let it boil or the syrup will become too thick.
-
Cool the syrup
Remove syrup from heat and let it cool completely at room temperature for 15-20 minutes until it reaches room temperature. The syrup should be completely cool to prevent diluting the ice later. Do not rush this step by refrigerating.
-
Add rose water
Stir rose water into the cooled syrup over low heat for 1 minute until well combined and fragrant. The mixture should smell distinctly floral but not overpowering. Do not add rose water to hot syrup or the delicate flavor will evaporate.
-
Mix with lemon juice
Pour the fresh lemon juice into the rose syrup mixture and stir gently for 30 seconds until evenly combined. Add remaining cold water and stir for 1 minute until mixture is uniform. Do not over-mix or the drink will become cloudy.
-
Add color and garnish
Add pink food coloring one pinch at a time over 2-3 minutes, stirring gently until desired pale pink color is achieved. Add dried rose petals and stir once to distribute. Do not add too much coloring as it should remain subtle and elegant.
-
Serve over ice
Fill tall glasses with ice cubes and pour the rose lemonade over medium heat for 1 minute until glasses are three-quarters full. Garnish with lemon slices and a few rose petals on top. Serve immediately while ice-cold. Do not let it sit as the ice will dilute the flavors.
Tips
Cooking Tips
Use food-grade dried rose petals and high-quality rose water for the best flavor - Lebanese or Turkish brands work excellently and provide authentic taste
Alternatives
Replace rose water with orange blossom water for a different floral note, or use honey instead of sugar for a more complex sweetness that complements the roses beautifully
Serving & Storage
Serve in tall crystal glasses with silver spoons for traditional presentation, pair with Turkish delight or baklava, and store leftover syrup in the refrigerator for up to one week
